The economics of reuse

The use of salvaged materials to build new buildings may have existed for a long time, but we still throw a huge amount away in contemporary society. Waste, the problem of managing waste, increasingly scarce resources…, our consumer habits are showing their limitations. Working against regulatory and cultural norms that make it difficult to reuse materials in construction, Rotor has worked for about ten years with architects and political decision-makers, showing the ecological and economic relevance of reuse in the world of construction. By cre- ating the company Rotor Déconstruction and its commercial website, the collective has managed to give value to materials from demolition sites in an economically viable way.
